Ground Breaking.......

I think I mentioned a month ago that they were supposed to be starting on our house. Well, they just started on Saturday. Yeah, we have been waiting and waiting to see people out there working. Such a good feeling....so good that we drove by two times just today. They are going to be glad that we are living in Katy because we would drive them bonkers. Spencer even mentioned that he will probably take his lunch a couple times a week to work so that he can drive by and look and then eat in the car. Ha!
Anyway, progress has been made. We are getting close to that foundation being poured. They even have some pipes in so we can see where the appliances will be. Spence and Presley are standing in our soon to be living room here.

We will be moving out of our beloved little green house this weekend. We have so much left to pack and we are both sitting on the couch discussing the type of projector we want for the media room. Productive...no.  Luckily, my wonderful husband is a former employee of AusTex movers. He makes moving very easy because he doesn't stress about anything and is so efficient. Has a plan and knows how to execute it. (God, we are SO opposite) I just point and hand out waters. Ok, I carry a few boxes & lamps. Wait, this time I will have a baby on my hip. And our school carnival is this Saturday. We won't be busy at all!!
I am working on my 'Memories on 12th Street' post....when I can do it without crying, I will finish. It's been 7 months, can I still blame my hormones?

Houston, we have a......

TOOTH!!!!!

I am in no way wishing pain on my daughter by any means, but I am SO excited to announce the appearance of our first tooth. I have been saying, "oh, I think she's teething" for seriously over 2 months. It was a logical excuse for her random middle of the night wake ups so I just went with it. Well, last night was a whole new kind of wake up. Presley was crying and so fussy all night last night.....and I mean ALL night. We were tired exhausted beyond exhausted today and then noticed a sharp prick on her bottom right gum this evening. I am just glad that we have reason for the madness. If she wakes up tonight, she will get a dose of baby tylenol to ease her pain. Let the teething games begin........

Spring Break 2012

One of the many perks to being a teacher is that you get SPRING BREAK well into your adult life. It is a week off in the first warm days of the year (except this year, it was never really cold) and just gives you the tiniest taste of summer. Which is only 51 days away...in case you hadn't started your countdown yet. Can you tell I have?

We went to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas to visit Nanny & Daddo and spend some much needed time on the lake, on the boat, on the golf course, or on the porch with a weight watchers margarita. I always love a good visit with Nanny & Daddo and I am so thankful they live close enough to be able to see Presley as frequently as they have. They are, by far, two of my favorite people for many reasons. One being that they just love livin' life. We just relaxed, ate, relaxed, played with baby girl, and ate some more. Oh, and exercised...because Daddo is all about healthy, but he is all about Texas Sheet Cake too. So, I am not too sure how that works out.  Spence, Bryan, and Daddo got in two rounds of golf and the girls got in a shopping trip, of course. There is just something about having 4 generations under one roof that makes my heart happy. It was a great week! Here's a bit of what we did in pictures.....

Presley had her first bubble bath. She loves the water!
Hanging with her "da-da". She learned to say that over the break!
Checking out stone work!

Great Nanny & Great Daddo swinging with Presley.

Uncle Bryan is funny!

Presley lovse being in her baby bjorn.

Our quick family photo of the trip.

Sweetness! We are still deciding do we call her Barby? Gommie? Or something else? Any suggestions are welcomed.

Frying some shrimp.....it was ahhhhmazing.

Oh, maybe we got one more family pic. Ugh, I wish our outfits were cuter.

Presley loves her Daddo.

But, loves her Daddy too!

Look at that face! She enjoys 'flying!'

Last, but not least....my favorite from our 6 month photo shoot with Ms. Presley. She was so patient with mommy & such a great little model. I am in love with her innocent look,  the amazing scenery, and that delicious chair that I borrowed from Nanny's bedroom.
In other Daigle news:
We have big changes coming soon as we get ready to temporarily move to Katy for a few months before our house is finished. That's another post though. Guess we better start packing.......

Love!

Problem-Solution

Problem: Baby gets bored and fussy when we are eating dinner.

So we are trying to establish a good dinner time routine in this household, which can be challenging at times with a 6 month old. We usually feed Presley before we sit down to eat, because it is just to difficult to eat and feed her at the same time. We used to let her play with toys or just talk with us, but as she gets older she seems to get bored a little easier. Long story, short. I discovered this fresh food feeder that is pretty much like a popsicle for babies. I put it in the freezer with fruit in it and after an hour or so it is the best little teething treat for the girl! I have put pear, apple, and just a good ole' ice cube in there. She LOVES it. Keeps her entertained for a good 20 minutes and it is nutritious to top it all off!
I say every one needs one.  And get yourself a 2 pack because they can be a pain to clean. It's one of those things where I think...."why didn't I think of this?" Genius!

See for yourself...........

6 months of bliss

We made it...6 month milestone! We are still happily married, and we have a happy, healthy 6 month old, and I think we will definitely do it all over again! There were moments, mostly at 3 am, when I thought the all night wake ups, witching hour, and hourly diaper changes would last forever.  But, now I miss those things. They sure aren't babies very long.

Stats.....
Weight/Height: 17 lbs. 15 ounces, 26 1/2 inches tall
Eating Habits: Still at 5 feedings each day. In the process of weaning from breastmilk to formula. Eats a fruit and oatmeal cereal for breakfast and lunch, and a veggie for dinner. Favorites include pears, sweet potatoes, and butternut squash.
Sleeping Habits: Bedtime is about 7:30 or 8:00. Usually sleeps until 6:30...sometimes randomly wakes up earlier ready to play. Naps around 9 for an hour and about 12:30 for 1 1/2 sometimes 2 hours. Takes a cat nap on the way home from school about 4:30...just a little 30 minute.
Personality: Her nickname is 'Sweet P' for a reason. She is such a sweet girl and so loving. When she smiles, you forget about whatever is on your mind. Her whole face lights up when she sees someone she recognizes. She can get a little feisty if she gets over hungry or sleepy. She definitely doesn't want to miss anything and will try to skip a nap if you let her. She might be turning into a mommy's girl. If I am around, she wants me to hold her. If I am in the room, she won't take a bottle from anyone else. (hehe)
New Tricks: Sitting up! She is so good at it, our doctor was very impressed with her 'trunk strength'. Told us to expect her to crawl early. (Not sure how I feel about that) She is making new sounds and noises. Sounds like she is saying 'da-da' which makes Spencer like the happiest man on the planet. Also sounds like she says 'hi' and 'lala.' We are also getting close to independent bottle holding.

TuTu: Tulips and TuTus in the Heights
Pearls: borrowed from Great Nanny
Puff hair clip: Doodles in Rice Village. A very cute baby boutique.

Another Mommy Tip

So, I have only been a mommy for 6 months and that is not very long, I know. However, I see to think I am full of tips and things that have made my life easier making this huge life transition. Really it's nothing special...just common sense. Well, it took me 6 months to learn this, but here it is:
Go out to dinner with your girlfriends...often

Sounds easy right? Nope, because last night was seriously the first time I have sat down to visit with two of my closest friends without Presley in 6 months. I hadn't realized how much time had passed. I guess I have been in a little bubble! I mean, I talk to them all the time and we go walking in the neighborhood, but, there is something about a nice dinner and a good bottle of wine with your friends that gives you an extra little pep the next day. Anyway, we went to Coppa; an new, amazingly delicious restaurant on Washington. We each had some not too heavy, not too light, perfectly flavored pasta. Really, it was good! We had a bottle of wine and just chatted it up. I didn't even pull out my phone to check for a text from Spence or show them the latest 'Presley gram" until after our plates had been cleared.
It was so nice and I appreciate my husband so much for taking care of ALL the nightly duties on his own so I could have a couple hours of 'me' time. I sure don't need it or want it often because, honestly, I really love spending every second with Spence & Presley, but I sure did enjoy my birthday dinner with my girls. It is so recharging....just what every mommy needs. I am promising myself that once a month at least. Who is going to hold me to that?
We spent so much time reminiscing about the past, so I thought I'd toss in a throw back picture. Here we are in 2008 when we had shorter hair and could stay up a lot later. Love you girls!

Update

I know you have all been on the edge of your seats waiting to hear the latest update on Presley's sleep habits. Well, last week was much better. She only ended up in the big bed one night and has been going back to sleep much easier. I check every morning for a tooth....still, nothing. I have been giving her 2 of the Hyland's teething tablets if she wakes up in the middle of the night and maybe that is helping. Or maybe it's the little prayer I say when I lay her down in her crib. Who knows? All I know is that we are all much happier Daigles when we have had at least 7 hours or sleep. I really need 8, preferably uninterrupted....but I am flexible, you know!
She cuddles with her 'lovie' now. It's heart melting, like everything else she does.

We are still introducing fruits and veggies slowly. Each week, she tries something new. She has loved pears and apples and thinks the peas are a little weird. It looked like I painted her face green the first time she had them. I've got to show you a picture. Hilarious. I don't know if it is me or her, but one of us is really messy. It might be me though because last week Kati was over and fed her Butternut Squash and she was completely clean at the end. I don't know maybe mommy needs more practice.

Peas, please.
I am still making her food and will continue to do so until I get completely burnt out. It's fun and I have a few tips to share. I am catching up on 'baby food' posts soon.
